      This is just a comment on the clarity of the question. It states that the pt experienced axonotmesis (class 2) injury but does not indicate a grade level which would affect the healing expectations. Grade 2 and 3 should fully recover with time but Grade 4 axonotmesis would require surgical intervention. This makes the question more difficult to answer and made me hesitant to answer that they would make a full recovery within a couple of years since another answer included surgical intervention (though timeline was not appropriate). Thanks!

      This question states that the injury was a Seddon *and* Sunderland class 2 injury. Axonotmesis (Seddon class 2) has a wide range of possible recovery timelines, but Sunderland’s classification is more specific describing the injury as disruption of the axon with regeneration and full recovery expected.
