I’m having a hard time figuring out a way to remember the blood supply to different regions of the brain. Not so much the major arteries (such as those affected by stroke), but more so the several branches off of the basilar artery throughout the midbrain, pons, and medulla. Does anyone have any good study tools to help with recall of this info? Is it important to know it all in depth? Thanks everyone!
Hi Marissa,
I don’t have a good memorization strategy for this one – but I wouldn’t spend a ton of time trying to memorize all the terminal branches. If you have a solid grasp of the major cerebral, cerebellar, and spinal arteries, you’re probably in good shape. I’d know the expected clinical presentations for stroke/injury to the main arteries that are outlined in the stroke and spinal cord lectures.
