Took my exam yesterday after a true whirlwind 48 hours- was originally scheduled to take it on Monday the 16th, but due to a severe weather forecast in my area, they ended up cancelling my exam period and the only place/time they could reschedule me to was in a town 2 hours away on the very last day of the exam window for 2026. To say the whole process was stressful is an understatement. I usually take stress in stride, but the whole thing was starting to make me feel like maybe 2026 wasn’t my year to take the exam and shook my confidence in my knowledge- like maybe somehow this whole thing was a cosmic sign from the universe that I wasn’t ready to take the exam, especially since the weather forecast that cancelled my exam in the first place ended up being a total flop.

Obviously, I won’t know how I did until June, but I actually left the testing center feeling relatively confident in my performance and I don’t think I would’ve felt that way, had it not been for the resources available within this course. Yes, I have a lot of experience in Neuro PT which provided a good basis of knowledge for taking the exam, but in dealing with the stress of being rescheduled, and the total debacle I had with getting to the test center on Wednesday morning, it felt like all of my experience had gone out the window. Being able to complete so many practice questions and see my practice test scores improve over the last several months was the thing that gave me the confidence to know I could answer the test questions even in the face of memory-wiping levels of stress. Not only that, but the community that the Rehab Knowledge Advantage team has created here in these discussion forums helped me know that I wasn’t alone in my preparation process and was performing similarly to my peers as I made my way through the course.

I’m a good therapist, and I’m pretty good at taking tests, but with something as big as the NCS, even the most confident clinicians and test-takers describe it as a harrowing experience. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Chrissy, the team at Rehab Knowledge Advantage, and also all of you here in the discussion board, for creating an environment where studying for this test isn’t an isolating experience, and review/reinforcement of relevant clinical practice is emphasized over rote memorization and fact retainment. Taking the NCS was indeed a harrowing experience for me, not only from a test-taking perspective, but also in the fact that it was a sheer logistical nightmare. NCS Advantage gave me the exact resource and structure I needed to be confident in my ability to reason through the questions and be confident in my answers regardless of the stress. No matter the outcomes in June, I’m so grateful for the time, energy and effort that has been put into creating a resource like this for clinicians prepping for the exam, because without this platform, so many of us wouldn’t have a way to gauge our readiness, receive reassurance, or get the reps needed to head into this exam with confidence.

So, thank you from all of us Chrissy, but especially thank you from me- it has been a goal of mine to take this test since before I even started PT school, and despite all of the unknowns and curveballs and extra challenges that came my way over the last 3 days, I walked out of the testing center feeling capable rather than demoralized. If I could do it over again, I don’t think I would ever choose to have the experience that I did, but I would without hesitation, become part of this community again.

Oh my gosh Kate…this is the sweetest note! I’m so happy you are party of our community!

What a stressful exam experience you had. I’m so proud of your resilience. (Also relieved the severe weather was a flop…we’ve had our share of severe weather events in the last few years that have caused quite a few headaches with home repairs, etc.)

The pain points you mentioned are exactly why I started the NCS Advantage in 2016, and I’m so happy we achieved our goals with you! Taking the NCS exam felt so isolating for me and my study partner. I wanted a way to connect with others – and also reassure expert clinicians that they are actually experts.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder of why we do this…I’ll be rooting for good news for you in June! Please follow up and let me know how you did!

      Chrissy
