      Hi!

What are the specific age ranges for when to use Peds-RLA vs RLAS?

In Campbell’s 6th edition, there is a chart (Table 25.3) that describes the characteristics of children between ages 6 months to 5 years throughout the levels. Does this imply that the Peds-RLA is only used for that specific age range (up to 5 years), and anything over 5 years we should be using the RLAS?

      Thanks!!

      Jessica,
I’ve never been able to find specific ages for this assessment. Most language used is vague saying “children and adolescents”. The reason for its creation was to make sure it takes younger children’s developmental stages into account when assessing a child after brain injury. This vagueness isn’t always ideal when studying, so just be sure to fully read any question that might have this as an option. Make sure if they are referring to a Ranchos scale, you look to see if they are referring to adult or pediatric, so you can use the correct levels.
Sorry I can’t be more specific than this!
