Hi there, in the lecture for gait and on the slide for excess knee flexion/buckling at mid-terminal stance, couldn’t weakness in plantar flexors also be a cause for knee flexion/buckling? Say that they have excess dorsiflexion as a result of the plantar flexors inability to control fwd progression of the tibia. Or would this typically just appear as knee hyperextension?

      Hi Daniel!

Yes, weak plantarflexors could absolutely lead to uncontrolled tibial advancement and, therefore, knee flexion/buckling during stance phase. This was omitted from the lecture for concision, as the purpose of the lectures is to prepare course participants for the items most likely to appear on the NCS exam.
